NIK and Bayer strengthen their partnership to expand the digital ecosystem for Romanian farmers

  • The Bayer–NIK partnership integrates FieldView™ solutions into packages eligible for AFIR funding, alongside precision farming equipment and solutions
  • The collaboration includes the development of functional workflows that connect FieldView™ with data generated by XAG drones, as a first step in expanding digital interoperability on the farm

Bucharest, 28 May 2026 – Bayer and NIK Balkans announce the strengthening of their strategic partnership by expanding their range of digital solutions for precision farming in Romania. This milestone reflects the shared commitment of both companies to support Romanian farmers in adopting digital technologies tailored to local conditions and field requirements. As part of the partnership, FieldView™ software is sold and supported locally through NIK Romania and can be included in packages eligible for funding through AFIR-run programmes, complementing the existing range of FieldView-compatible hardware solutions. This integrated ecosystem allows farmers to collect, visualise, and analyse agronomic data directly from the farm, supporting better-informed decisions throughout the entire agricultural season. In parallel, Bayer and NIK have developed a functional integration between the FieldView™ platform and XAG drone technology. This solution allows for the visualisation of data generated by XAG drones within FieldView, as well as the export of FieldView prescriptions for variable rate application via the drones. Currently, the integration is available through a manual workflow and represents a practical first step towards connecting the digital platforms used on the farm. The solution is already being used by a joint client in Romania, demonstrating its relevance in real-world farming conditions.

"Agriculture is undergoing a fundamental transformation, and Romania has the potential to be at the forefront of this change. By strengthening our long-standing partnership with NIK, we are reaffirming our commitment to Romanian farmers, supporting their journey towards a more innovative and competitive agricultural sector", says Jennifer Gilberg, Country Division Head – Crop Science Romania, Bulgaria, Republic of Moldova.

Through these complementary initiatives, Bayer and NIK are contributing to the development of a coherent digital ecosystem that connects technologies already in use on the farm and offers farmers the flexibility to adopt digital solutions according to their current level of digitalisation.

"Expanding our partnership with Bayer is a natural step in our mission to provide Romanian farmers with simplified access to cutting-edge technologies. By integrating FieldView software into AFIR funding programmes, we are removing cost barriers and facilitating the transition to precision farming. Our goal is for technology to become an accessible standard in Romania, providing every farmer with the technical support and digital solutions needed to achieve long-term sustainable performance", stated Kaloyan Kumanov, Administrator of NIK Balkans.

Regardless of their level of digitalisation, farmers can choose the configurations that suit them, from solutions focused on data collection and analysis to advanced options for yield monitoring, high-precision GPS mapping, and intelligent input management.

In this way, FieldView reaffirms its commitment to supporting the modernisation of Romanian agriculture by providing farmers with state-of-the-art technology that is adapted to local realities and capable of meeting the challenges of every stage of the agricultural season.

"By introducing this extended range of solutions and exploring new ways to connect FieldView with other technologies used on the farm, we are offering farmers scalable solutions that evolve with their needs. The focus remains on transforming field data into clear, actionable insights for productivity and efficiency", stated Alin Sebastian Nemțisor, Digital Farming Solutions Lead for Romania.

To identify the available FieldView digitalisation packages eligible for funding, farmers can visit the AFIR platform using the link www.bdpr.afir.info, where they can check which solutions meet the needs of their own farm.

Through these initiatives, Bayer and NIK are strengthening their role as partners to Romanian farmers, contributing to the development of a coherent digital ecosystem built around real-world farm needs and the efficient use of data.
